Help & Getting Started

How to get the most out of MarketMindAI

MarketMindAI turns your real broker history into a coached, verified read on your own trading. Bring your trades in once and the platform builds a living journal, a personal edge report and on-demand AI coaching — alongside the research tools you use to find the next trade. New here? Start with the three steps below.

Getting started in 3 steps

Step 1

Connect or import

Link a broker with a live API (Zerodha), or import a tradebook / P&L statement on the Accounts page. Deep history — 5 to 10 years — comes from uploaded files; broker APIs only return today.

Go to Accounts
Step 2

Explore your Journal

Your trades organise financial year by financial year, grouped by stock and account. See open positions, per-trade conditions at entry & exit, and ask the AI coach to critique any single trade.

Step 3

Generate your Learnings

Run a personal trading review across all your trades — your edge, your leaks, do's & don'ts, and year-over-year patterns. It only runs when you ask, and every version is saved so you can roll back.

Frequently asked

Upload the tradebook / P&L statement — not a tax-filing report:

  • Zerodha — the taxpnl report from Console, one file per financial year (it holds both equity and F&O P&L).
  • INDmoney — the transaction / order report (statement export).
  • Groww — the order history export.

Files can be .xlsx, .xls or .csv. Avoid the ITR / capital-gains “tax-filing” PDFs — those are summaries, not the trade-level data the journal needs.

Patterns, filters & strategy — the technical detail

What each screen and pattern actually means, and — because this platform is built to surface mid/smallcap opportunities the large-cap-only screens miss, not just index heavyweights — exactly what MarketMindAI's own detectors check for, in plain terms. Jump to a topic or expand them all.

Glossary

RS (Relative Strength)
How a stock is performing versus a benchmark or its sector. Outperforming = leading the market; used to spot leadership before a breakout.
VCP
Volatility Contraction Pattern — a series of tightening pullbacks on falling volume before a breakout, popularised by Mark Minervini.
Box
A sideways consolidation range (base). A clean break above the box top on volume is a classic entry trigger.
C&H (Cup & Handle)
A rounded base (the cup) followed by a small pullback (the handle) — a continuation pattern that breaks out from the handle.
Elliott (EW)
Elliott Wave — a way of labelling market moves as impulse (1-5) and corrective (A-B-C) waves to gauge where price sits in a cycle.
Profit Factor
Gross profit ÷ gross loss. Above 1.0 means you make more than you lose overall; 2.0 means ₹2 earned for every ₹1 lost.
Expectancy
Average rupees you make (or lose) per trade over the long run = win% × avg win − loss% × avg loss. Your edge per trade.
Payoff Ratio
Average winning trade ÷ average losing trade (in ₹). 2.0 means your typical winner is twice the size of your typical loser.
MFE / MAE
Maximum Favourable / Adverse Excursion — the best (peak) and worst (drawdown) unrealized move a trade showed while you held it. Reveals how much you left on the table or how much heat you took.
FY Bucketing
Indian financial year (Apr 1 → Mar 31). Trades are grouped into FYs so your journal and taxes line up (e.g. a trade closed in Feb 2024 sits in FY 2023-24).
RSI (Relative Strength Index)
A 0-100 momentum oscillator (Wilder's original — unrelated to this app's own RS-vs-benchmark reading above, despite the similar name). Above 70 is typically read as overbought, below 30 as oversold. Shown as a plain reference column on Scanner, Watchlist and Sector Rotation tables.
EMA (10 / 20 / 50 / 200)
Exponential Moving Averages — faster-reacting than a simple average. This app treats the 10/20-day EMA as short-term trend support, the 50-day as a medium-term institutional level, and the 200-day as the long-term trend line; the EMA scanners flag stocks sitting near one of these, or freshly crossing above it.
Confirmed (double-confirmation)
Every chart pattern the Scanner shows has already been re-derived from raw price/volume by an independent validator layer, separate from the detector that first found it — a pattern only shows “Confirmed” when both agree; otherwise it's labelled “Likely” rather than presented as certain.

AI you control

Coaching and Learnings never run on their own — you trigger them, and reviews are cached and versioned so nothing costly repeats by surprise. Every AI narrative is checked by an independent judge against your real numbers.

Slice by account

Use the filter bar on Journal and Learning to view a single owner, broker or segment. Save the slice you use most as your default view so those pages always open where you want them.
